Water quality issues in your swimming pool in the Las Vegas area is something that every swimming pool owner is going to have to familiarize themselves with. With multiple bathers in a pool, high winds, pollen, and lots vegetation that can be blown in the water it can be challenging to keep the best water quality in your swimming pool at all times. This applies to both residential and commercial swimming pools. For the most part, commercial pools have more issues due to the number of bathers but everyone should be concerned.  At Clark County Pool & Lawn this is our major concern too because even when the water is blue every time you swim in a pool you should be concerned about the water quality. We hope this blog post increases your knowledge on why this is so important.

The major components of swimming pool water chemistry are:

  • Chlorine
  • pH
  • Cyanuric acid
  • Phosphates
  • Calcium hardness

As for water chemistry, you will want to make sure your chlorine readings are 1 – 3 parts per million (ppm) during the winter and 3 – 5ppm during the summer to prevent algae growth. Your pH should be between 7.2 – 7.8 to keep your water from becoming too acidic or for scaling to occur. Cyanuric acid levels should be maintained around 30 – 50ppm to maintain chlorine efficiency. Phosphates should be kept below 100 – 200 ppb to prevent algae growth and calcium hardness levels should be between 200 – 400ppm. Some of these levels with fluctuate if you have a salt system. Please refer to the owners manual for what they recommend.

When dealing with water quality wouldn’t you want to swim in the best water possible? This can be achieved at Claik County Pool & Lawn utilizing our Reverse Osmosis (RO) Mobile Filtration Trailer.
