Lowering High Levels of TDS In Your Swimming Pool
If you own a residential or commercial swimming pool in the Las Vegas area, you are going to not only deal with but need to know the term Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). TDS is best described by, “the total amount of mobile charged ions, including minerals, salts or metals dissolved in a given volume of water, expressed in units of mg per unit volume of water (mg/L), also referred to as parts per million (ppm).” In the swimming pool industry, TDS is directly related to the quality and purity of water and usually is a number that is referred to when it’s time to change out the existing water in your swimming pool. Between TDS and Calcium Hardness, it’s the two most common reasons in the pool industry as to why a drain and refill would be suggested. Specifically, in Las Vegas, if you were to walk into any pool store they will mention TDS especially when the levels get high. In our area, it isn’t uncommon for the water to be coming out of the tap at 400 ppm Calcium Hardness and 1000 ppm or more TDS. We have some of the hardest water in the country.
As water evaporates, the minerals stay behind which slowly destroys the surface of the swimming pool but can also make it harder to handle the water chemistry as well. The general rule of thumb is to change out the water every two years. If you take a water sample into a pool store they will usually recommend changing out your water when TDS levels climb above 3,000 ppm (especially in commercial swimming pools).
TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLIDS AND SWIMMING POOLS
TDS is a widely used number in the swimming pool industry. When it comes time to change out the water in your swimming pool we recommend using our Pool Water Recycling Puripool Process which is a mobile filtration system that comes to your residential or commercial property and recycles the existing water in the swimming pool. This prevents the need to drain your pool which is dangerous and can typically be done in less than a day. Not to mention our mobile filtration technology will leave you with much better water than you’d get out of the tap. This means the water will not only look better but it will feel better too!
Our mobile filtration trailers are equipped with high-pressure Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes that can lower TDS and other hardness minerals while conserving 85% of the water in the swimming pool. In Las Vegas, water quality is a big issue. Some of the benefits of our mobile filtration system are:
- Water Conservation
- Lowers Calcium Hardness
- Lowers Total Dissolved Solids
- Lowers Cyanuric Acid
- Lowers Salt Levels
- Doesn’t Expose The Surface of The Swimming Pool
- Lowers Phosphates
- Lowers Nitrates
- Removes Waterborne Diseases
- Improves Water Quality
